Discover the Cévennes steam train

Tchou Tchou…20-minute stop before the next steam train departure from Anduze! Come on board for a timeless train ride through the superb landscapes of the Cévennes National Park. During your stay at the campsite, this family outing is one of the must-do activities in the Gard.

This railway line was inaugurated in 1909, but was discontinued in the early 1970s due to a lack of traffic. It took all the willpower of enthusiasts to save the line and create the “Train à vapeur des Cévennes” association. This tourist train project was launched in 1982 and is still a great success today.
During your vacation, take a 15 km ride on this authentic steam train linking Anduze to Saint Jean du Gard. Admire the exceptional panorama of the Cévennes landscape as you wind your way along the way. Admire breathtaking views of the Gardon canyon, old mills and the goats that produce Pélardon, the delicious local cheese. You’ll pass through tunnels, over viaducts and along ridges, sometimes feeling the jolts of this old iron lady!

During the high season (July 17 to August 24, 2023), you can also stop off at the Bambouseraie, a huge exotic garden offering a haven of peace.
The steam train journey takes 40 minutes , with departures every 2 hours or so during the day from Anduze or Saint Jean du Gard. You can therefore take advantage of the opportunity to stop off in one of these pretty towns before catching the train.
